The Space, Spatial, Surveying and Diversity Leadership Network (SSSDLN) brings leadership from business, government, research and education to advocate for diversity and inclusion within the professions.
We know that having varied perspectives helps to cultivate the innovation that will solve complex problems in a changing world – and that inclusion is how we unleash the power of diversity.

ABOUT US
We aim to dramatically improve the state of diversity and inclusion in our sectors. Our initiative was in response to the 2026 Spatial Industry Transformation and Growth Agenda and is informed by our plan for innovation and collaboration through diversity and inclusion.
ACTION AREAS
Our vision is to lead the Australasian science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) community to embrace the positive impacts of diversity, inclusion, equality and belonging. To achieve our vision we will…
1. Create an active network of change makers
We’re building network of change makers who are educated about, and empowered to support diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging.
We will harness this collective energy to make an impact at scale.
Join the SSSDLN to make a difference in your organisation. Membership is free and open to all within the space, spatial and surveying sector across Australia and New Zealand.
2. Monitor and report on the state of DE&I across our sectors
The Inclusion @ Work benchmarking Survey was devised by SSSDLN with our industry partners in to establish a baseline for the state of diversity across the space, spatial and surveying profession.
It aims to measure the impact an inclusive team can have on innovation, productivity, and staff retention over time.
3. Support our sector to lead by example
To better reflect the people and communities we serve, we want to grow our visible leaders, beyond those who are regularly called on, to be the face of diversity.
We have created an Accord to help people show their commitment to diversity and inclusion in the industry. We are able to support events to implement a code of conduct to assist you.

4. Share stories that educate and empower
Sharing stories is one of the most powerful ways we have to influence, teach, and inspire. For that reason, we have issued a call to the spatial sector to showcase leaders who are opening doors, challenging bias, and creating workplace cultures that foster a sense of belonging and inclusion.
Have you got a case study you would like to share with us? Get in touch: contact@sssdln.org
5. Recognise and reward diversity and inclusion champions
SSSDLN has worked with the Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards Committee to create a Diversity and Inclusion Award. This recognises a surveying and spatial professional who has contributed to opportunities for those from diverse backgrounds, and/or, actively campaigned for a more inclusionary workplace or industry, leading to positive and long-term impact.
SSSDLN independently judges the awards and proudly celebrates diversity and inclusion excellence in all its forms. Find out more.
