Building on the 2021 milestone Inclusion @ Work survey for our sector, 19 industry partners joined with Diversity Council Australia for a new and updated survey of the state of diversity across the space, spatial and surveying profession.
This second Space, Spatial and Surveying Inclusion@Work 2021-2025 report maps the state of inclusion in our industry, building on the 2021 baseline and the body of evidence that supports the case for inclusion.
The report again highlights the impact that inclusion can have on people and culture, showing that staff in inclusive teams are:
• more than 14 times more likely to be “very satisfied”
• more than 8 times more likely to innovate
• more than 5 times more likely to work effectively together
However, non-inclusive teams increased in our sector from 9% in 2021 to 11% in 2025, albeit in the context of a national Australian workforce of 19% non-inclusive teams.
And discrimination and harassment remain areas of concern, with over 23% of staff experiencing discrimination or harassment over the past year, underpinned by more than 3% increases in reports of both experiencing harassment and witnessing harassment.
The Inclusion@Work report is an evidence-base for organisations, leaders, managers, and employees to identify where the industry needs to do more to target diversity and inclusion initiatives and build more representative and inclusive workplaces for everyone.
For the first time in 2025, the survey also generated individual preliminary reports by sector, for more detailed breakdown across space, spatial, and surveying:
- Inclusion @ Work Space Sector Report (2024-2025)
- Inclusion @ Work Spatial Sector Report (2024-2025)
- Inclusion @ Work Space Surveying Report (2024-2025)
